All parts contain insoluble calcium oxalate crystals that shoot out when chewed, piercing oral and digestive tissues. Unlike true lilies, calla lilies don't cause kidney failure but do cause severe mouth pain, drooling, and swelling. Bulbs have the highest concentration of toxins.
