This flower contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals. Chewing on it releases needle-like crystals that cause immediate, intense burning pain in the mouth, swelling, drooling, and difficulty swallowing.

Keep Calla Lilies out of your cat's reach. If ingestion occurs, rinse the cat's mouth with milk or water and seek veterinary care, as the swelling and pain can be severe.
